Nature Nearsights

Nature Nearsights (2007-2015), groups together more recent work that shares not only similar materials and technique, but also a particular viewpoint from which diverse subjects are observed. The paintings aim to catch some of the mystery and surprises in nature close up around us - lichens, with their whorls and splash of color set off by calligraphic cracks in stone and bark, winter's garb of snow and ice which makes strange and unfamiliar those same rocks and branches and random sightings in that great emporium of the shore, the beach bazaar that's restocked daily by the tide.
