Reef Dreams

Reef Dreams (2001-2006), as the title of this series indicates, are not literal views of underwater scenes but rather memories of dives, attempts to catch the feeling of fleeting moments in the deep. Some are based on sketches made immediately once back on land, others derive from photos of life upon the reef, images which filled gaps in my recollection of a particular terrain or plant or animal that was yet still clear enough to haunt me and provoke the painting.
